                            Recording Single Debut.

                  Battle With The Roan.

In early 2004 local Bush Balladeer Ashley Cook of Thangool, had the honor to be asked by Lindsay Butler to record a song to be put onto the Tribute Album to Slim Dusty.

It was a dream come true for Ashley as he  recorded one of his favorite songs "Battle With The Roan" which was recorded at Lindsay Butler Studios at the Gold Coast.

Before the release of the album unfortunately Slim had passed away on the 19th September 2003 before the the album was due to be release.

The album was still release at LBS Studios  Open Day at Moonbi on the 18th of January 2004 at Tamworth Country Music Festival.

The Music Lives On - LBS Team Salutes Slim Dusty
Single - No 14 Battle With The Roan.

I had never meet Slim Dusty but I idolized his music and Bush Ballads. I looked forward to seeing Slim whenever he was on tour in Queensland with his show.
"Battle With The Roan" reminds me of a feature horse, in our home town of Monto called "Harrami Bill", that could not be ridden for many years - taking on all comers.

Since recording "Battle With The Roan", Ashley was nominated for New Talent in Bungendore and is one of the top three finalist  in New Talent at  Bungendore Muster for 2005. In which due to the response of recording "Battle With The Roan" Ashley when on and recorded his debut album with award winning producer Lindsay Butler. The album is based on his family cattle property in Queensland, as Ashley lives the songs he sings about. The new album is appropriately titled "Cattle Dust & Leather", Ashley has made quite an impact in a short time and is fast becoming one of the finest  balladeers on the circuit.
